2017 Chevrolet Equinox and 2017 GMC Terrain vs 2017 Ford Escape
2017 Chevrolet Equinox 2017 GMC Terrain
Finding a vehicle that successfully combines the compactness and fuel efficiency of a regular car without sacrificing the space, power and performance of a traditional SUV can be a challenge. We want to make your search as easy as possible, which is why we’re comparing two of our best selling Crossover SUV models - the 2017 Chevrolet Equinox and the 2017 GMC Terrain - with another popular favourite: the 2017 Ford Escape.
The performance category is where the Equinox and the Terrain really get to prove themselves. Both have the option of a 3.6L V6 engine with 301 available horsepower. The Ford Escape, on the other hand, offers a 2.5L iVCT engine with 245 available horsepower.
Fuel economy is another area where Chevrolet and GMC get to shine; the Equinox and the Terrain can offer up to 31 MPG and while Ford offers good competition, the Escape can only go up to 29 MPG.
Ford offers some steep competition in the safety category but ultimately the Equinox and the Terrain can give both you and your passengers better peace of mind. With forward collision alert, lane departure warnings, safe blind zone alert, rear cross traffic alert, and 4 wheel disc anti lock brakes, you can be assured that your safety is well taken care of. The Equinox has the added safety advantage of a high strength steel safety cage to keep you protected should a collision occur. When compared feature for feature with the Ford Escape (which includes available forward collision warning, lane keeping system, and blind spot system), it’s not hard to see why so many people choose GMC and Chevrolet.
With a built in 4G LTE wifi hotspot, touchscreen, multiflex sliding rear seats, 39.9 inches of rear seat legroom and remote vehicle start, Chevrolet and GMC know how to keep you and your passengers comfortable and entertained no matter how long the journey. While the Escape also has a touchscreen, it lacks wifi, multiflex sliding rear seats and the rear seat leg room is significantly smaller (only 32.7 inches).
